About STEAM Region 19

A few years ago, a group of dedicated science educators in the Region 19 area of Texas decided to bring a large science conference to El Paso. That conference, at the time it was held in 2002, was the largest conference of any kind to have been held in El Paso and had over 4000 educators from all over the US and Mexico attend. (It was so large in fact, that it had to be held at 10 different venues in downtown El Paso as well as at UTEP.)
From that small group of volunteers arose a group that began creating professional development opportunities for science teachers, and then technology teachers, and then all teachers. Through monthly dinners, and annual miniCAST conferences, that group became what is now STEAM Region 19: A true 501-C3 non profit organization dedicated to providing professional development opportunities to all educators in the Region 19 area of Texas as well as southern New Mexico and Northern Mexico.
